Nonlinear Response Function of a 3×3 in. NaI Scintillation Detector

چکیده
Response functions of a 3×3 in. NaI detector, which is mainly used in PGNAA applications, have been calculated by using MCNP-4C code. Calculated results are compared with measured data by using standard -ray sources to check their accuracy. -rays from radioisotope sources were used in the range from 0.081 to 4.438 MeV for this determination. Through the precise modeling of the detector structure, the agreement between both results has been improved.

Response functions of a 3×3 in. NaI detector, which is mainly used in PGNAA applications, have been calculated by using MCNP-4C code. Calculated results are compared with measured data by using standard γ-ray sources to check their accuracy. γ-rays from radioisotope sources were used in the range from 0.081 to 4.438 MeV for this determination. Through the precise modeling of the detector struct...
متن کاملPhoton dosimetry based on selective data sampling for the NaI(TL) detector
Radiation detection is essential for determining of radiation dose. Depend on the detector and dosimetry method, detection process is performed in different levels. Pulse counting is the first level of detection. Typically, the output of a radiation detector for determining value of the radiation dose cannot be used directly. Through changing the response function or the readout detector, is tr...
متن کاملMeasuring Electron Response in NaI(Tl) using Compton Coincidence Technique
The scintillation efficiency of electron recoils in liquid xenon (LXe) is not well measured at low energies. The Compton coincidence technique (CCT) is set up using a NaI(Tl) detector and HPGe detector to measure the energy dependence of the light yield in the NaI(Tl) detector from which we can extract the scintillation effieciency. This technique allows for the detection of low energy electron...
متن کاملA Comparative Study of Field Gamma-ray Spectrometry by NaI(Tl) and HPGe Detectors in the South Caspian Region
Natural radionuclides present in soil as well as certain anthropogenic radionuclides released to the environment are the major contributors to terrestrial outdoor exposures. In the assessment of human exposures from environmental radioactivity, besides the conventional method of soil and vegetation sampling combined with laboratory based analyses of environmental media, the other choice would b...
متن کاملEnergy non-linearity effects in the response of ionic crystal scintillators to X-rays with energy in the region of the K-absorptions edges: experimental results
The response of a YAP, NaI(Tl) and BaF2 scintillators to X-rays with energies around the Y, I, and Ba K-absorption edges, respectively, was investigated. For all the scintillators, the amplitude response follows different linear trends for X-ray energies below and above the respective K-edges, presenting a discontinuity at these energies. An abrupt decrease of about 3%, 5% and 2% were observed ...
